West Tigers' players depart

16 Sep, 2009 10:09 AM
WESTS Tigers have lost six players from this year's squad for the 2010 NRL season.

Heading elsewhere are Dean Collis and John Morris (Cronulla), Peni Tagive(St George Illawarra), Dene Halatau (Bulldogs) and Corey Payne, who has yet to decide upon a new club, but has held talks with his former club, St George Illawarra.

Fullback Shannon Gallant has signed with North Queensland while backrower Danny Galea remains unsigned and is negotiating with the Tigers about a new contract. A decision is expected soon.

New signings include Penrith centre Geoff Daniela and Cronulla fullback, winger or centre Mitch Brown.

The Tigers finished ninth on 28 points missing the finals by one point after the 26 premiership rounds.

Several narrow losses throughout the year counted against the talented team in the final outcome.

The Tigers have not made the finals since winning their historic first premiership in 2005.

In other news, Tigers' skipper and hooker Robbie Farah, centre Chris Lawrence and prop Keith Galloway have been named in the Kangaroos' train-on squad for next month's Four Nations tournament in England.

The squad will be announced after the NRL grand final on October 4.
