Oakdale advanced to the next stage of the Group 6 Country Rugby League first grade finals with a hard-fought 40-30 win over East Campbelltown on Sunday.
Playing at Campbelltown Stadium, Oakdale set the pace and took a handy 22-6 lead into the break.
In their charge to the grand final, Oakdale's victory gives them a game against Moss Vale on Sunday.
A lapse in concentration in the final 10 minutes of Oakdale's game is nothing to worry about as the match was already out of East Campbelltown's reach, according to the Workers' player-coach Geoff Thomson.
``We dominated for 70 minutes and were leading 40-6 at that stage,'' Thomson said.
``They had a couple of lucky, quick tries and we did go to sleep a little but we were never going to lose from there. It was a rugged old game.''
Thomson is thankful for the lifeline his team were given to get into the play-offs and he hopes they can prove themselves with another win against the Dragons.
``It'll be a cracker of a game and they're going to be tough,'' he said.
``They've got a strong forward pack and I think that's where the game will be won or lost.
``If we get over their forward pack I think we'll do well and hopefully get the job done.
``We've really been handed a second chance, you don't get that too often and the boys are keen to prove themselves.''
The big clash between Oakdale and Moss Vale starts at 2.30pm at Narellan Sportsground.
Meantime, Thirlmere/Tahmoor beat the Dragons 24-18 on Saturday and will face Picton at 7.30pm at Thirlmere Sportsground this Saturday.
