Sydney Taekwondo founder in Martial Arts Hall of Fame

21 May, 2009 04:00 AM
UNITED Taekwondo is in for a big night on Friday with instructors and students chasing upgrades at Mount Annan High School.

United Taekwondo Founder and Master Instructor Paul Mitchell has dedicated more than 30 years to the development and expansion of taekwondo.

He spent the first 28 years of his training under the guidance of the leading taekwondo Masters in Australia, but recently he developed his own style of taekwondo.

This brought about Sydney Taekwondo and due to the overwhelming success, it has expanded to include 24 centres, many in Macarthur.

Mitchell was recently inducted into the Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame, World Karate Union Hall of Fame and has attained the award of Yondan (4th Dan) in United Taekwondo.

Martial artists will be after upgrades:

Chief Instructor Mark Chamberlain and Chief Instructor Rory Hogan are applying for 3rd Dan; Instructor Darren Knoll is applying for 2nd Dan and Kylie Tomkins seeks 1st Dan.

Students applying for a black belt include: Ashleigh Walker, Daniel Hewson, Jay Seeney and Elliot Ku.
