NEXT year's M-League soccer competition is set to be bigger and better as it rides on the success of its inaugural season in Macarthur.
The season climaxed in a thrilling grand final penalty shootout that secured the premiership for Narellan Rangers.
Ten teams competed around Macarthur's grounds throughout the season and the competition has attracted the interest of at least three more teams wishing to come on board.
Camden Tigers, Ruse and Mount Annan have shown a desire to be involved.
Macarthur District Soccer Football Association general manager Glenn Armstrong said the competition's exposure had already led to major sponsor Illawarra Credit Union confirming its support for 2010.
Armstrong said next season's M-League would consist of at least 12 club teams in first and reserve grades.
``The M-League was extremely successful this year and received glowing reports all round,'' Armstrong said.
``Reintroducing the squad system with first and reserve grades and rebranding it as M-League has been a huge success.
``Now that clubs are vying for spots in this elite league, it speaks volumes about the concept and the popularity of an elite local level of football.
``To introduce new concepts and ideas and to have them embraced by the greater football community makes the statement that the real football is alive and well in Macarthur and only looking to get bigger and better.''
Paul Wakeling Motor Group supported the M-League this year by providing a trophy and prize money for the M-League Player of the Year.
The Mustangs are already preparing for the big time next season by conducting trials at Wandarrah Reserve, Mount Annan between 6.30pm and 8.30pm on November 5, 12, 19 and 26.
Camden Tigers will also be trialling players for the 2010 M-League season throughout November at Ron Dine Memorial Reserve.
