Woman dies in car accident at Cawdor

18 Nov, 2009 09:37 AM
A Belimbla Park woman and her dog died in a single car crash at Cawdor on Tuesday.

About 5.40pm, the woman was driving north along Cawdor Road at Cawdor, when her Holden Rodeo utility left the road and hit a wooden power pole.

The impact trapped the 50-year-old driver in the cabin. She was attended to by paramedics and a doctor from a rescue helicopter but was pronounced dead shortly after 6pm.

The body of her dog, which had been travelling inside the utility, was found a short distance away.

A second dog was seen running away shortly after the crash.

Police have asked people who live near the accident site to keep a look out for the second dog which has yet to be found.

Camden police are preparing a report for the NSW Coroner.
