CAMDEN Council is calling on the community to report the ``senseless acts'' of vandalism which have destroyed trees in recent weeks.
The latest act of vandalism was on Thursday night in Manna Gum Road, Narellan Vale.
Trees were also uprooted, chopped down and sawn in half, around February 20 at Mount Annan Drive, Mount Annan, Welling Drive, Narellan Vale, and The Cascades, Mount Annan.
The council's environmentally sustainable design manager, Adam Wilkinson, said the vandalism had damaged the beautiful tree-lined, country-style streetscapes in which the Camden community took pride.
``Acts of vandalism are unacceptable at any time, however with trees it's even more concerning because the effects are felt for years to come,'' he said.
Mr Wilkinson said these recent attacks would also deprive children of necessary shade.
He said the cost of removing one damaged tree, and planting and maintaining a replacement tree could be up to $100.
When asked what he would say to these attackers, Mr Wilkinson said: ``The message would be to think about their actions and the impact and cost it has on the community in which they live.''
Mayor Chris Patterson said some of the trees were up to 10 years old and had been destroyed in a matter of seconds.
``Camden Council, along with the Camden community, work hard to keep Camden as environmentally sustainable as possible and will continue to do so even with this recent destruction,'' he said.
``We will not let this hinder our determination to maintain Camden's image of being a charming, well-kept country town.''
Camden police crime manager Paul Albury said he hadn't received any reports about the latest incidents.
He asked for the community to report vandalism to police.
To report any form of tree vandalism, phone Camden police on 46550599 or Camden Council on 46547777.
