CAMDEN councillors have given the green light to a project which is expected to boost employment in the city.
They unanimously supported Dart West's application to subdivide 59 industrial and business development lots at 630 Camden Valley Way, Gregory Hills three kilometres north of Narellan and part of the Turner Road precinct at the council meeting last Tuesday.
``This is a big win for our community,'' deputy mayor Greg Warren said of the 45-ha business park. ``Someone must determine the best outcome we can for our community and the best outcome for our community at this time is ... job creation, easing the squeeze on local infrastructure and getting local jobs for local people.''
As part of the agreement, two access roads from/to Camden Valley Way will be built (on top of the five-kilometre extension of Badgally Road) and there will also be drainage, bulk earthworks and landscaping.
Central Hills Business Park is part of the $500 million Gregory Hills development for 2400 new houses and will create about 5000 new jobs.
Dart West general manager David Taylor said they could now ``get on with the job of getting more employment opportunities for the Camden area''.
Mr Taylor said the development would improve the local economy and ease pressure on the roads, and that residents could live and work in the area.
``The important thing is that it will provide a range of different jobs for the community,'' he said.
