MYRON bounds around the backyard like any normal two-year-old dog.
But the border collie cross boxer mastiff has to listen to the sound of a bouncing ball to chase it because he has no eyes.
A quick ``careful'' from his owners, Raquel and Terry Wood, lets Myron know to stop if he's about to run into a fence or garden.
His array of tricks will be on display at the Cupcake Day for the RSPCA at Narellan Library between 10.30am and 11am on Monday, August 18.
Myron was born blind then lost his first eye to glaucoma at three months old and the second eye two months later.
He now relies on Mrs Wood to help him navigate the world without eyesight.
``I'm a seeing-eye person,'' she joked.
But it was an American staffie cross dalmation by the name of Ivan who introduced the Wood family to the work of the RSPCA when they rescued him after 12 months in a shelter.
``He was just a very special dog in our life,'' Mrs Wood said.
``Any opportunity I have had over the years to support the RSPCA I have taken in memory of Ivan because we loved him so much.''
Mrs Wood hopes the Cupcake Day will not only raise money for the RSPCA, but also make people realise how important they are to animals' lives.
``When people see Myron and how special he is, I want them to go home and see all dogs as special and that all dogs are dependent on us for their happiness, whether they have a disability or not,'' she said.
Cupcake Day for the RSPCA is on at Narellan and Camden libraries from 10am. For a gold coin donation people can have morning tea. Details: www.rspcacupcakeday.com.au.
