Oran Park on track as a new town

03 Mar, 2010 10:34 AM
ORAN Park will be the next major central business district in Sydney's south-west, developer Mark Perich believes.

He said construction had begun on a display home village and his family-run development company, Greenfields, had rezoned the area to contain 8500 residential blocks.

``Oran Park is going to be a complete town when it's finished,'' he said.

``Our CBD isn't just going to consist of a shopping centre; we're going to have civic amenities too.

``There's going to be police and fire stations, medical facilities, offices and Camden Council is considering moving its administration building there as well, because Oran Park is actually in the direct centre of the Camden Council area.

``So that will hopefully encourage businesses and employers to the area.''

Mr Perich said the condition of the area's roads including, Cobbity Road and Camden Valley Way, were a concern.

``There is more public transport than people assume though,'' he said. ``It's only a matter of time before we get private bus companies to run more.''
