LESS than a year after Oran Park Town was officially opened to much fanfare, the estate's first residents have moved in.
Bonita Hansen said she felt like "a little kid", excited by the prospect of moving into a brand new estate and into a house she designed with her husband Gary, a supervisor for Nu-Era Homes.
The couple purchased their block of land after deciding to down size from their seven-bedroom house at Glen Alpine.
"The kids are grown up and have moved out and we wanted something smaller," Mrs Hansen said.
"This is a new start for us in a new estate.
"We love the thought of being able to watch it grow.
"It doesn't matter if we were the first or the 50th to move in, we're just excited to be here."
Hundreds turned out for the opening of the joint Landcom and Greenfields developed estate in March last year and then 3000 would-be buyers camped out overnight when the first lots were released. More than 200 lots were sold in the first three months.
When complete, Oran Park Town will include 7540 houses and be home to 22,000 people.
