Kids take action for the Burmese

13 Aug, 2008 10:44 PM
YEAR 6 pupils at St Paul's Catholic Primary School at Camden studying the bleak decline of Burma took a step toward brightening the lives of the country's people.

The pupils invited their peers to come dressed in bright, fluoro clothing on Thursday. They placed gold-coin donations on a heart-shaped chalk outline on the playground and spelled out Save Burma.

The $850 raised will be donated to Catholic aid agency Caritas to support an emergency appeal in Burma following the devastating Cyclone Nargis in May that killed thousands.

``What we've learned [about Burma] has saddened and horrified us all,'' said pupil Aleesha Bertoldi.
