Vocal anti-Islamic school campaigner Kate McCulloch is One Nation's candidate for Macarthur at the next federal election.
Mrs McCulloch announced her candidacy this morning.
She told the Advertiser that she decided ''about a year ago'' that she wanted to be a politician and then approached One Nation.
Mrs McCulloch said her decision to run was about more than her opposition to the Muslim school in Camden.
''It's basically to do with everything - our medical system, businesses, primary production, freddom of speech and equality," she said.
One Nation's publicity officer, Bob Vinnicombe, said: "Kate will be a real asset to the party."
