What child doesn't want to grow up to be a knight in shining armour?
So says the Australasian Jousting Champion Phil Oliver and he's ours.
The Camden knight along with fellow competitor Fiona Hudson, of The Oaks, will help make up the Australian contingent in this year's St George's Day International Jousting Tournament, as part of the annual Ironfest.
The ``grey rabbit'' is confident going into the tournament, in which he placed third last year, after being crowned champion in January at the Lake Taupo Australasian Jousting Championship in New Zealand.
The pair have been training every weekend in the lead-up to the event, which will feature a top-class field of international competitors such as Jeremy Oneail and Tobias Capwell, both of the United States.
``It's got action about it and every Aussie likes to see people get hurt, so to speak,'' Mr Oliver said.
He said he had not suffered major injuries over the years just bruises and chipped bones.
The pair, who are seeking sponsorship, want to hold a future event in Camden.
Jo usting's origins go back more than 700 years and it has involved kings, queens and noblemen and women throughout the ages.
Other events at Ironfest include a large-scale Napoleonic-era battle re-enactment, a blacksmithing conference, the inaugural Ironfest Belly Dance Soiree, art exhibitions and historical displays.
