FACIAL hair has become the trademark of many men, but a Camden business owner has removed his, all in the name of men's health.
Thierry Marillier, owner and manager Enzo's Restaurant Cafe in John Street, has shaved off his beard and hair and kept his moustache in support of Movember, an annual, month-long event to raise awareness of men's health concerns, particularly prostate cancer and depression.
Throughout November, participants will grow their moustaches and raise funds and awareness for Movember's men's health partners The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue.
Mr Marillier said he had been a little anxious about getting rid of his hair and beard.
``I was a bit scared that I maybe wouldn't have any customers left, but it is for a good cause and I hope it goes very well,'' he said.
Two of Mr Marillier's friends are survivors of prostate cancer, and he said they were one of the main reasons behind his decision to participate in Movember.
``They have recovered but they suffered plenty: (prostate cancer) is not very pleasant,'' he said.
Donations can be made at Enzo's or by visiting www.movember.com and clicking on the donate link.
Anyone who donates more than $20 at Enzo's will receive a free bottle of Basedow white or red wine thanks to Blue Star Beverages.
