Girl's abduction claim 'fabricated'

02 Nov, 2009 08:46 AM
Police who appealed for information after a teenage girl reported being forced into a car at Grassmere near Camden on Saturday, October 31, are now considering taking action against the child for public mischief.

The girl reported to police that about 12.20pm, she was walking west along Sheathers Lane, Grassmere when a vehicle described as a small white four-door sedan drove up next to her and stopped.

Police were told the male driver of the car told the girl to get into the car before he got out and grabbed her forcing her into the rear passenger seat of the car.

The girl was driven to Hurley Street in Campbelltown where she was allowed to leave and the car continued north towards Queen Street.

The 12-year-old was able to ring her parents who picked her up and took her to Campbelltown Police Station to report the matter.

She was not injured during the incident.

Detectives investigating the matter have now further interviewed the girl who has indicated the incident was fabricated.
