THREE commands will come together at Wests Leagues Club to recognise the hard work and dedication of Macarthur police.
The Rotary Macarthur Police Officer of the Year Awards will be held next Wednesday, March 24 and the public is invited to attend.
Officers from Camden, Picton, Campbelltown and Macquarie Fields are competing for the top award.
Camden crime manager Paul Albury, who is one of the judges, said the standard of the nominees was high this year.
``Often the award winners are quiet achievers, who don't always get recognition for the hard work they do,'' Detective Inspector Albury said.
``Police enjoy getting positive feedback from their community and public support for their hard work in their command.''
Detective Inspector Albury said choosing the winner was a challenge.
``The standard of nominations gets higher and higher each year and it's often subjective comparing one police officer, who does one duty, to another police officer,'' he said. ``It's challenging to decide who should be awarded.
``These awards are the most prestigious local awards and the fact that the awards are backed by Rotary and the community makes it an enormous honour.''
The awards night will be held at Wests Leagues Club, 10 Old Leumeah Road, Leumeah, at 7pm. Tickets costs $45 each for a two-course meal.
For bookings, contact the police stations at Camden, 46550509, Campbelltown, 46201199 or Macquarie Fields, 96050499.
