TWO ABC Learning centres at Harrington Park will remain open after the receiver for the failed childcare group signed off on their sale.
Childcare operator Martyn Downs, who owns Bambinos at Harrington Park, will take over the two centres in Fairwater Drive from December.
He said the children would continue to be enrolled at the centres and he expected to retain almost all the staff.
Mr Downs, who co-owns the buildings that were leased to ABC before the company's collapse, said he purchased the centres to avoid history repeating itself.
``The last thing I wanted was for someone to go in and buy it and then in 12 months be in the same boat as ABC,'' he said.
``The morale of the staff since the ABC debacle blew up is at an all-time low because they were left wondering whether they would continue to be employed.
``The biggest challenge for us is to boost that morale and reassure parents that we are there for the long haul.''
These will be the third and fourth childcare centres he has bought in Harrington Park and branded Bambinos.
He took over the ABC centre on Glenrowan Drive in January this year after the receiver, McGrathNicol, announced it would close at the end of last year unless a buyer could be found.
``The reality is this business can't be run by some head office in another state,'' he said. ``It made sense to go in and grab these centres and soldier on.''
Mr Downs said he could not disclose how much he paid for the centres but said a viable centre could sell for up to $600,000.
He said one of the conditions of sale was that he would pay accrued employee entitlements. ``Ninety per cent of staff will be offered employment,'' he said.
The Harrington Park childcare centres were among 1200 across Australia and New Zealand that were placed in voluntary administration last November.
Buyers are being sought for two other centres at Narellan and Currans Hill.
Successful bidders will be chosen in November.
