CAMDEN police are warning youths not to use shortcuts but designated crossings after a 15-year-old Narellan Vale boy was hit by a car crossing the Camden bypass about 9pm on Friday.
Camden police crime manager Paul Albury said the boy was crossing from the Mount Annan side to the Narellan side of the bypass when he was hit by a Ford sedan driven by a Lakesland man, 20.
The boy suffered a fractured ankle and soft tissue damage to his torso, he said.
``On this occasion the 15-year-old was very lucky,'' Detective Inspector Albury said.
``However, vehicles travelling at speed (100km/h) will in most cases lead to people being killed in these types of accidents.''
