THE Friends of St Paul's Church, Cobbitty, will continue their restoration fund-raising with a concert this Sunday, June 28.
The artists will be the renowned opera soprano Amelia Farrugia, who grew up in Campbelltown, pianist Sharolyn Kimmorley and teenage violinist Allison Laurens.
The Friends of St Paul's have been presenting fund-raising concerts for five years to help restore and maintain the historic church (1840), the Heber Chapel (1827) and the rectory (1857).
Friends' chairman James Warrand said the concerts had so far achieved ``quite a bit''.
``We're on to our third window, installed a new brass rail and improved the lighting,'' Mr Warrand said.
Farrugia will sing works by French composers, including Faure and Hahn, and arias from the opera Manon.
``I lived in France when I was 11,'' she told the Advertiser. ``Mum's a French teacher. She and Dad took the whole family and we lived in a little country town.
``I learnt to speak French there, but my grammar was terrible.
``I'm immersing myself in French culture.
``I love the repertoire. There are so many great French composers.''
Farrugia has performed at Carols In The Domain five times, as well as at Opera In The Domain and also at last year's New Year's Eve concert at the Sydney Opera House. But she said her performance in front of the Pope for World Youth Day last year was her biggest concert yet.
``I've never seen such a huge crowd,'' she said.
After the St Paul's concert, she'll go straight into rehearsals for Carmina Burana with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, which will be on at the Sydney Opera House next week.
